Utopia 1, Fishing Shack
Mixed Media and found objects.
This is my vision of Australia before its coastline was overrun with McMansions and private beach front developments. The work is inspired by the communal shacks that once dotted the Australian coastline. These structures were pieced together with salvaged materials, often carted hundreds of kilometres by car (and sometimes boat) to remote unpopulated fishing and surfing destinations. No one owns the structures and because they’re at the mercy of harsh coastal conditions, they’re usually in shambolic disrepair, maintained by volunteers who make dedicated annual pilgrimages to keep them standing. They are simple, egalitarian places that embrace community, recycling and the idea of making do. They become part of the landscape, hosting vibrant communities of explorers, drifters and eccentrics. They’re slowly disappearing, under pressure from councils, developers and environmentalists.
I've collected a mountain of stuff on my travels. Some of it I stick into these books.

Modnlovr (@modnlovr on IG) was a colab with my partner, Neryl Walker. The design was inspired by our love of classic mid 20th century planters and ceramics, re imagined to create the perfect contemporary homewares accessory.

I made this from a discarded street barrier that I found in a Brooklyn gutter. There wasn’t any work immediately after 9/11 so I wandered the streets collecting stuff to make assemblages out of. The streets of New York are a goldmine for art materials.
Outcast was a streetwear inspired outdoor apparel brand designed for fishermen. The brand and trademark was sold in 2019.
NYPD road barrier assemblage from 9/11. I found this in pieces on Canal Street in the week after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade centre. We were living in a 4th floor walk up in Chinatown and I dragged the pieces up 8 flights of stairs and cut it up on the living room floor. When I sent it home, Australian customs drilled a bunch of holes in it.
